Pope Francis appointed Msgr. Gordon as the first auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Las Vegas on May 26, 2021, and was ordained a Bishop by Bishop George Leo Thomas, with Bishop Joseph A. Pepe and Bishop Daniel F. Walsh as co-consecrators, on July 16, 2021, on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He continues to serve as the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia.
